Caraquet 2023 : The Awakening of the Medusa !

“We chose Caraquet, the self-proclaimed capital of Acadia, for its cosmopolitan spirit, its great francophone artistic freshness and its cultural effervescence. Dance is continuously evolving through screens and the intersections with other disciplines – cinema, video, visual and digital arts, and poetry. This exciting artistic evolution is making dance even more approachable for all generations. At the very beginning of the summer season, Cinédanse will offer Caraquet performances, screenings under the stars, workshops, and round table discussions with Acadian artists from Québec and abroad. This unique event will stimulate the region by inspiring the imagination with the rituals of dance, new and old.”
– Sylvain Bleau, director of La Caravane de Phoebus.

The headliners include : Acadians Monique Léger, Michèle Bouchard, Nicole Haché, Monelle Doiron; Acadian poets Jonathan Roy and Jean-Philippe Raîche; Abitibians Béatriz Médiavilla from Rouyn-Noranda; Lana Morton from Val d’Or/Ottawa; Chantal Caron from Saint-Jean-Port-Joli; Indigenous dance artist Barbara Di-abo from Kahnawake; Montréal artists Mistaya Hemingway, Yako, and Moroccan-born performer 2Fik.
